Heiko Müller

Heiko Müller is a German painter and illustrator born in Hamburg in 1968. A graduate in illustration and design from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in 2000, he works as an independent artist and media designer from his hometown. His pictorial practice fuses medieval icon art, Flemish Renaissance painting, rural folk art and comic culture into a highly original visual language. His most recognized works feature animal illustrations — raccoons, foxes, ravens — in dark and apocalyptic atmospheres reminiscent of modern reinterpretations of Bosch or Brueghel. His work has been exhibited in Hamburg, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Saint Petersburg, Chicago, Seattle and Estonia, and is acquired with equal frequency in Europe and the United States.
