Andreas Englund is a Swedish hyperrealist painter born in 1974 in Falun and based in Stockholm. A graduate of RMI-Berghs School of Communication in 2000, he works simultaneously as an artist and art director, a field in which he has won numerous international awards. He is recognized worldwide for his photorealistic Aging Superhero series — large-format oil paintings that document with tragicomic humor the everyday life of an anonymous superhero from childhood to old age, exploring the inevitability of time, human fragility and the distance between expectation and reality. His classical technique enhances the irony of these situations, capturing embarrassing gestures and exaggerating wrinkles and pores with the precision of a high-resolution photograph. In 2009 his viral campaign "The Hero" reached over 50 million unique viewers. He has exhibited across Europe, North America and Asia and has been commissioned by Urban Nation Museum and Nordiska Kompaniet.
